We’ll continue to update this article with news on Edwards until the official active/inactive report comes out on Thursday around 6:50 p.m. ET.
TNF INJURY UPDATES: Andrews | Bateman | Julio
Is Gus Edwards playing Thursday night Week 8?
UPDATE: Edwards is officially ACTIVE.
Edwards (knee) has participated in practice every day this week, albeit in a limited fashion. Considering the severity of his knee injury that sidelined him for the Ravens’ first six games of the season (and all of 2021), it’s not too surprising to see him pop back up on the team’s injury report given the short week. Edwards came through for fantasy owners who trusted him in his first game back, scoring 18.6 fantasy points in standard and PPR formats (16 carries, 66 yards, two TDs).

Despite leading the Ravens RBs in fantasy points, Edwards played on just 36 percent of Baltimore’s offensive snaps. Backups Justice Hill and Kenyan Drake still played key roles in the offense. Edwards remained the team’s go-to running back in goal-to-go situations, which is a good sign of his touchdown potential moving forward, but his inability to aid in the passing game lowers his ceiling in PPR formats.

Edwards remains a decent flex if active for TNF, though keep in mind he could see fewer carries than last week as the Ravens “ease” him back into action. The Buccaneers are coming off a game in which they allowed 173 rushing yards to the Panthers, but they’re still one of the better run defenses in the league, allowing the sixth-fewest FPPG to RBs.

The fact that Edwards was able to participate in a limited fashion on Monday-Wednesday gives him a good shot to play this week, but if he ends up being a surprise scratch, consider both Hill and Drake risky flex options in deeper leagues.
