A winter return date for Season 46 has yet to be revealed, but more than likely, previously aired episodes of the sketch comedy show will run on NBC until the cast returns with new material.

In the meantime, fans can get one last round of Saturday night laughs in with a fresh episode that will bring the return of a coveted SNL alum. Find out everything you need to know about the SNL Season 46 midseason finale below.

Who is hosting?

Kristen Wiig is making a grand return to SNL as the show’s host. The actor was a cast member on SNL from 2005 to 2012 and was known for her hilarious characters like Target Lady, the infamous smack-talking Penelope and the always excited Sue. Here’s to hoping Wiig’s Christmas gift to SNL viewers will include an updated take on any of these characters or perhaps a new holiday melody performed with her former Garth and Kat partner, Fred Armisen.

Although it’s been eight years since Wiig made her exit from SNL, she’s visited on quite a few occasions. The Wonder Woman 1984 star has hosted the show three times since leaving the cast in addition to making a number of cameos over the years. She actually made a pit stop on SNL earlier this year and appeared in a homemade sketch while the show was airing SNL At Home during the quarantine.

Who is performing?

Another repeat artist is set to hit the SNL stage this week: Dua Lipa.

Lipa was slated to appear on SNL on the heels of the release of her latest album Future Nostalgia in March. However, that episode of the show was nixed due to the pandemic shutdown of the SNL. Lipa will make her second appearance this week nearly three years after first performing on SNL in 2018.

When does SNL air?

The last fall episode of SNL’s 46th season will air at its usual scheduled time on NBC on Saturday at 11:30 p.m. ET.

Can it be live-streamed?

You sure can live stream the mid-season finale on NBC’s website or app on any smart device. You’ll need a cable provider login to access the stream though. Folks with pay-for streaming subscriptions like Hulu +Live, YouTube TV and Sling TV among others can always tune into the show in real-time on those platforms.

If you’re only interested in catching the best clips of the night, all the sketches and some extra bits will be available for viewing on SNL’s YouTube shortly after the show airs. Fans can also keep up with all the SNL chatter by following the social media hashtag, #SNL.
