Reigning ISL champions ATK travel to Pune to take on FC Pune City in a crucial tie on Saturday. The Kolkata side will be high on confidence after registering a 1-0 win over NorthEast United FC in their previous game. Zequinha scored the only goal of the match to seal much needed three points for Teddy Sheringham’s side.
FC Pune City, on the other hand, suffered a 0-1 loss to Chennaiyin FC in their previous match in Chennai. The Maharashtrian outfit will be eyeing full points from the home match to remain in the title hunt. They are currently placed in the third position in the league table.
Pune dominated against Chennaiyin in the first half of the match and came close to scoring on several occasions but the match completely changed after central midfielder Marcos Tebar had to leave the field in the second half.
They had also missed the service of star player and captain Marcelinho due to suspension. Much to the team’s relief the Brazilian striker’s suspension is over and he will be eligible to start against ATK.
Marcelinho is likely to replace Ashique Kuruniyan on the right flank. Adil Khan, who started as a right back against Chennaiyin, will move to his natural central midfield position occupying Marcos Tebar’s position, who is likely to remain out of the game due to the injury he suffered in the previous game. Baljit will be back in the side in the right-back position.
For ATK, marquee player and skipper Robbie Keane will remain out of action. Teddy Sheringham is likely to field an unchanged XI from their previous game and not disturb the winning combination.
Pune dominated the first leg encounter completely outclassing ATK 4-1. Can ATK have their revenge at the Shree Chatrapati Sports Complex or will the home side collect full points on home soil and remain in the title hunt?
