GAME PREVIEW

Delhi Dynamos have played ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ in their two games so far. First up, away against FC Pune City, Miguel Angel Portugal’s side showed fantastic application to stifle Pune’s brilliant attack before slotting three goals to take all three points.

However, in the very next game, Bengaluru FC exposed all of their defensive woes by slamming four goals past them in what was a dominating performance in all sense. Delhi midfield, consisting of Paulinho Dias and Vinit Rai, were overrun quite easily. The Pride also found it hard to deal with the physical players in the Bengaluru ranks, conceding two of those goals from set-pieces.

Concerningly for them, NorthEast United are also quite a physical side and their set-pieces were branded dangerous by Chennaiyin FC coach John Gregory last week. However, one must note that despite all the advantage in that department, NorthEast United FC are yet to notch their first goal of the campaign.

Following a stalemate against Jamshedpur FC, the Highlanders fell to a chastening 3-0 defeat away at Chennai against a side that featured players of shorter physique. Perhaps, Miguel Angel Portugal will take a leaf out of John Gregory’s books. NorthEast United coach Joao de Deus has stated that he is not concerned by the lack of goals in his team as they were creating chances. But he will be the first to admit that to go without scoring in three games will be a problem.

Expect NorthEast to come out with intent while Delhi Dynamos will look towards their fast wingers and creative midfield to scythe through the Highlanders. Both teams will be eager to take all three points on offer and this clash promises to be an exciting affair!
