Ever wonder who controls the only camera in the courtroom? It’s a Court TV technician who, seated behind the spectators, manipulates buttons controlling the camera’s movement. Court TV provides a raw feed, with 10-second delat, to all other TV outlets. The cable channel’s own coverage will be gavel to gavel, led by Fred Graham.
“Near gavel to gavel” is how CNN describes its coverage. That means breaking away only during the most tedious moments. O.J. has been to CNN what the gulf war once was – plugged into every show, from “Larry King Live” to its new electronic town meeting. About 70 reporters, producers, and techies will work the story.
After broadcasting opening arguments live, the nets will jump back in only for high-interest moments. The anchors will stay in New York. Expect lots of O.J. scattered on the prime-time magazine shows fighting for survival.
