You know how being an NBA player isn’t easy? There’s a lot of traveling and, well, basketball, and it can be easy to get sucked into the whirlwind that is an 82-game season.

“It weighs, like, 120 pounds,” Parker told OnMilwaukee.com. “I help feed it bananas. And the funny thing is it’s estimated to be over 100 years old — that’s what they told me.”

It’s a pretty great story. Parker, who has always loved animals, first made a trip to the Milwaukee Zoo during the offseason and had such a good time that he later coordinated a behind-the-scenes tour. That’s when Parker met Onassis, who won over his heart.

“It’s therapeutic,” he continued. “Animals are something I enjoy; it’s one of my passions. I’m just amazed at how long (Onassis) lives. I love it.”
