Following Thursday’s 61, Day delivered a 63 on Friday. At 124, he stands 13 under. Americans Daniel Berger and Brendon Todd start Saturday tied for second at 8 under. They and Day are due at the first tee about 1 p.m. ET.
Jordan Spieth atoned missing the cut in two consecutive FedEx Cup events with his best 36 holes since the PGA Championship. He starts at 11 under. Tee time: 12:50 p.m. ET.
Rory McIlroy is 9 under as he begins play. Bubba Watson enters at 7 under.
This week’s tournament will set up the TOUR Championship field. That tournament begins Thursday near Atlanta.
