Pierre-Paul reported to the Giants’ facility earlier Tuesday to finalize the details of the contract. His deal was pending a physical after doctors declined to clear Pierre-Paul when he first met with the team in September. Pierre-Paul lost his index finger and the tip of his thumb as a result of a July 4 fireworks accident.
The Giants are now “comfortable” with Pierre-Paul’s physical ability after examining his hand this week.
The Giants used their franchise tender on Pierre-Paul last season after the two-time Pro Bowl selection completed his five-year, $20.05 million rookie contract. The team still has the option of placing him on the non-football injury list, however.
Pierre-Paul is now eligible to begin working with the team’s training staff to determine how close he is to returning to practice.
