“He’s feeling better, he’s progressing,” Jays manager John Gibbons said. “But I don’t think he can go out there and throw a baseball or swing a bat.”

The tentative window for his return from the injury sustained Saturday when he collided with center fielder Kevin Pillar is two to three weeks.

That appears to be an optimistic prognosis and there’s still no guarantee that he’ll be able to return for the postseason, according to MLB.com. If Tulowitzki misses the full three weeks, he would be back for the final weekend of the regular season. 

​Meantime, Ryan Goins will continue to fill in at shortstop, while Cliff Pennington is the everyday second baseman. 

Tulowitzki was hitting .232/.314/.368 and a .682 OPS in 39 games since joining the Blue Jays at the trade deadline.

Toronto (84-62) enters Friday’s play two games back of the Royals for the AL’s best record and 3 1/2 games ahead of the Yankees atop the AL East.
