Bezos said Dave’s rant landed in his inbox after he posted about an email from another raging customer, which he also published to his Instagram feed Friday.
“There have been a number of sickening but not surprising responses in my inbox since my last post,” Bezos wrote Sunday. “This sort of hate shouldn’t be allowed to hide in the shadows. It’s important to make it visible. This is just one example.”
“Pledging support for a bunch of worthless [n-word] will ruin your company,” Dave wrote, according to the post. “White America is sick and tired of this [n-word] bullshit.
“I canceled my order and I know for a fact I won’t be the only one. Maintain your stance and we will watch your profits decline and laugh about it. My business relationship with you is over. F*** you in the ass you piece of s***. Dave.”
Bezos, who is the richest man in the world with a current net worth of more than $149 billion, did not ultimately appear too upset about Dave’s lack of business support. Nor where the commenters. “Bye Dave!” model and actress Amber Rose responded.
“The inequitable and brutal treatment of Black and African Americans is unacceptable. We stand in solidarity with our Black employees, customers, and partners, and are committed to helping build a country and a world where everyone can live with dignity and free from fear,” the company said in an statement on June 3.
In response, Bezos said: “Black Lives Matter doesn’t mean other lives don’t matter. Black lives matter speaks to racism and the disproportionate risk that black people face in our law enforcement and justice system. I have a 20 year old son, and I simply don’t worry that he might be choked to death while being detained one day.
“It’s not something I worry about. Black parents can’t say the same. I support this movement that we see happening all around us, and my stance won’t change.”
