The Sixers announced Sunday that Colangelo’s son Bryan has been hired as president of basketball operations and that Jerry would give up his title of chairman, though he will keep the title of special adviser to team ownership.
Still, the limitations the league enacted within weeks after Colangelo took over as chairman in December will remain in place as long as he has a working agreement with the 76ers, Yahoo reported. Under those two-pronged guidelines, Colangelo is limited in communicating directly with players outside of USA Basketball activities and how much impact he has on selection of national team and the Olympic roster.
Additionally, he must make opposing GMs aware of any contact he has with their players or their players’ agents, unidentified league sources told Yahoo.
