The team announced early Wednesday morning that it is benching Vick and going back to Geno Smith for the Week 13 home game against the Dolphins.

In the Week 12 loss to the Bills in Detroit, a 38-3 rout, Vick was only 7 of 19 passing for 76 yards while taking five sacks and throwing an interception. He was lifted in the blowout for Smith, the second-year man who had went 1-7 in starting New York’s first eight games of the season.

Coach Rex Ryan had reportedly wanted to stick with Vick, despite that terrible performance. But as we know with most questionable decisions in New York, they are often made above Ryan’s head.

The desperation, forced switch is more of an indication that Ryan is a lame-duck coach.
