Coach Todd Bowles interpreted it as his quarterback being angry, and he delivered a bit of a snarky comeback for the quarterback.
“If pissed off is going to stop the turnovers, I’m more than happy to have him pissed off the whole time,” Bowles said during a media conference call Monday.

Fitzpatrick’s receiver, Brandon Marshall, echoed those comments, except had a better delivery.
“He seems pissed off,” Marshall said, via NJ Advance Media. “So if this is the thing that makes us all play better, I’m all for it. Say whatever you want to say to win games. I’ll take it however it comes at this point.”
After Smith exited, Fitzpatrick took over and led the Jets to three scoring drives and a win. He’s going to be the team’s starter moving forward with Smith done for the season.
