Just over six minutes into the Jets game against the Sabres at KeyBank Center, Laine corralled the puck off the boards. He then sent a wrist shot over Buffalo goalie Robin Lehner’s shoulder and into the net to give the Jets a 1-0 lead.

The score elevated Laine to the 100-point plateau and was his 19th of the season.

Laine was the second overall pick in the 2016 entry draft and made his NHL debut in 2016-17. As an 18-year old rookie, he registered 36 goals and 28 assists in 73 games, breaking the franchise record for most goals in a single season by a rookie. This year, Laine has added 18 assists to go along with his 19 goals.

Laine became the fourth-fastest Finnish-born player to reach the 100-point mark. Teemu Selänne, who played for Winnipeg from 1992-96, registered his 100th point in just his 68th NHL game.
