Jordan, a Republican representing Ohio’s 4th congressional district, cited an article from The Intercept during a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee, which is chaired by Nadler. The Intercept reported that Democrats plan to introduce legislation to increase the number of Supreme Court justices from nine to 13—and that Nadler will be one of the bill’s sponsors. Nadler, a Democrat who represents New York’s 10th congressional district, refused to answer Jordan’s question, while another member of the committee said the Republican’s query was out of order....

Unable to brace himself, he landed on his head, neck and shoulders. There was speculation Zadorov swept Kotkaniemi’s feet out from under him, but a review of the video showed little to no evidence of that. The Edmonton Oilers restricted free agent signed a one-year deal with Oulun Karpat of the Finnish Liiga on Tuesday, although his contract contains an NHL opt-out clause through December 1. It’s the latest chapter in his desire to move away from the Oilers, with Puljujarvi widely known to want to play elsewhere. Puljujarvi was the fourth-overall pick in the 2016 NHL draft and arrived in Edmonton to great fanfare. However, the Swedish-born Finn failed to live up to the hype of his lofty draft position, registering just 37 points (17 goals, 20 assists) in 139 games over three years with the Oilers....

A win over Germany on penalties in the decider at the Maracana saw Brazil claim the men’s Olympic football for the first time in their history. Brazil were led by Neymar and Jesus described the role the Paris Saint-Germain star played, hailing the 25-year-old for his humility. “You know, before that tournament, I was just a fan of Neymar, like everybody else. He’s an incredible footballer, which everyone knows,” Jesus wrote for The Players’ Tribune....

In an NFL world slanting more toward the fantasy version that millions of fans play every week, it is nice to know the big guys up front still can control and win football games like Gang Green did in their 26-20 victory over the Saints Sunday. Don't get me wrong, this is no knock on fantasy football. Though I'm not an avid fantasy player myself, I am keenly aware of its popularity and the impact that it has had on the NFL from a ratings, and thus a business, standpoint....

The New York Jets quarterback left Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens with a right knee injury and later was ruled out. He limped off the field and was examined by doctors on the sideline before being taken to the locker room....

He is eligible to come off on Feb. 10, though it’s anybody’s guess whether he will be activated then. The move makes plenty of sense for the Jets. Kane, according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, has played through numerous injuries this season and may require offseason surgery, so it’s not as if putting him on IR is entirely unwarranted....

Except, the braintrust can rest a little easier now after signing multiyear extensions in the offseason, announced by the team Thursday. TSN’s Darren Dreger reported Wednesday that Cheveldayoff’s new contract was agreed upon “months ago,” while Maurice’s materialized more recently.
