Ironman Triathlons To Forfeit Nearly 2.8 Million For Running Illegal Lottery
The U.S. Attorney’s office in Tampa, Fla., announced the agreement Wednesday. The Tampa-based World Triathlon Corporation will turn over $2,761,910 from lotteries that gave competitors a chance to enter the annual Ironman World Championships in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. The proceeds in question come from the past three years, each of which saw thousands of hopefuls pay up to $50 apiece for a chance at 100 slots available in the Kona race....
